Here we go!

Well, this is November, finally! Since I unsuccessfully participated in NaNoWriMo last year, I thought I would try NaBloPoMo this year. That’s National Blog Posting Month. The idea is to post at least one entry each day during this month. I saw my friend Connie is participating, so I thought I would, too! Especially since it’s been a while since I’ve written consistently on this website.

I recently moved from Orange County, CA to the Inland Empire:

It doesn’t look very far, and really it isn’t, but it was definitely a culture shock! I went from the affluent Orange County area (see: Laguna Beach, Real Housewives of Orange County, The OC, etc) to an area with a decidedly more rural feeling. My husband and I had an opportunity to start a business, so we decided to run with it. Luckily, I’m not too far from friends and family so settling in hasn’t been too hard. It has taken SOME getting used to… I’m used to having a Nordstrom’s and Crate & Barrel nearby!

We’ve been very busy and I get to work from home now, which has taken some getting used to. Overall, I’m glad we moved!

See you with a new post tomorrow 🙂

So this just happened

So this morning I loaded the dishwasher. I moved into a new place so I’ve been washing all of our dishes, since they were wrapped in newspaper. Start the dishwasher and begin working, it’s a gloomy day outside and somewhat cold. Then (IM conversation with my brother):

xmyrin: me: something smells like burning, neighbors must be doing something
xmyrin: later
xmyrin: me: man something smells really burny, i don’t think it’s supposed to smell like that
xmyrin: continue on my merry way
xmyrin: go out for grocery shopping
xmyrin: me: hm… i don’t smell anything burning out here
xmyrin: go to unload dishwasher, spot melted plastic lid at bottom of dishwasher
xmyrin: me: …o.
