“Runnin'” by No Doubt

Running all the time
Running to the future
With you right by my side
I’m the one you chose
Out of all the people
You wanted me the most
I’m so sorry that I’m falling
Help me up lets keep on running
Don’t let me fall out of love
Running, running
As fast as we can
I really hope you make it
(Do you think we’ll make it?)
We’re running
Keep holding my hand
It’s so we don’t get separated
Be the one I need
Be the one I trust most
Don’t stop inspiring me
Sometimes it’s hard to keep on running
We work so much to keep it going
Don’t make me want to give up
[Repeat chorus twice]
(The future)

It occurs to me that I really relate to this song, even if it is off of the rock steady album. I think everyone that’s graduated relates to this song. I feel on one hand, we’ve been running through high school like little kids, eager to finish this phase and be all grown up. I get an image of two little girls holding hands with pigtails and running, hehe. But now that high school’s over, we might lose touch; so we have to hold on tighter. There’s always the thought that some friendships and relationships won’t last outside of school, so will we make it?

Then on the other hand there’s the fact that I’m in a high school relationship. Everyone will always tell you that they never last and everything like that, but everyone wants to believe that they will, otherwise no one would have a relationship in high school because it would be a waste of time. That’s the level I really relate to this song on, because I don’t want to be separated, and I really want to make it, I don’t want it to be a waste of time. Already it’s gone by so quickly, and I just want time to stop so I can enjoy those moments even more. I don’t want it to end.
