Road Trip, Part One!

(Originally, I was going to make a single post about my roadtrip, but it’s so long! I’ll split it up so it’s not so daunting. So this section is Part One: LA to Santa Cruz.)

So far since I’ve graduated college, I’ve set out fulfilling every post-grad stereotype out there: toyed with the idea of going to graduate school, gone on a backpacking trip through Europe (although it wasn’t too successful), and gone on a road trip (which was more successful). Usually it’s a cross-country road trip, but I just went through California and frankly, I think that’s enough! Here are some pictures and summary:

Procrastination.

Don’t want to prepare for my presentations tomorrow and Thursday. Would rather slum around on the internet and read up on celeb gossip instead. And possibly continue cleaning room, which is my favorite procrastinating activity.

Today taxes are due. Did you get yours in? I’m getting almost $400 back this year. And Mike had to pay $500. I know what I’m spending mine on…

  1. Car Registration
  2. Weddings
  3. Las Vegas
  4. AX

Did I mention that my sis wants to go to Las Vegas for her bachelorette party? haha I can’t seem to get away from that place. WE’re staying at the Monte Carlo, it has three pools, sweet! It’s going to be a nightmare there, we’re going Labor Day weekend. SO many people will be there. And it’s going to be fuckin hot.

OK time to work πŸ˜›

Europe?

A few weeks ago, my best friend {Vanessa} started making noises about us going to Europe once we graduate from college (approximately 2 years away) for about a month and a half. Just travel and see the sights before we get settled down into marriage, jobs, kids and well… life.

I’ve thought about it for a while and I really want to go! I think it will be an awesome experience that I’ll remember for the rest of my life and something I will probably never get a chance to do again.

So today I started putting money in my pathetic savings account again, lol. I figure if I put $40 in each paycheck, I’ll have at least $2000 saved by the time we go. And that doesn’t even count summer when I will work a lot more and have more money to put in. Also Mike said he might help me out a little and so did Vanessa. Plus, I can always charge things and pay for them later lol!

So if you have any tips for traveling around Europe or traveling in general I’d love to hear them. xD

Going to Catalina!

Yes friends, I am going to the Island of Catalina with my church’s college group this weekend. It’s going to be so fun, I can hardly contain myself! Anyway, since I wasn’t really sure myself where Catalina is, I thought I would include some maps I found on the intarweb:

Catalina island
Here’s a map of the island. The main city is Avalon, and that’s were more tourists are. We’re going to Two Harbors (on the northern end of the island).

Cool view of Catalina
This is a view of Catalina in relation to the California coast. Can you believe it is only 22 miles away from LA? That’s like… from my house to school, hehe. πŸ˜€

The islands of So Cal!
This is a map of all the islands off the coast of Southern California. Bet ya didn’t know So Cal had islands too, biatch! xD I figured out that the island that we can see from Mike’s house on clear days is NOT Catalina, but an island called… guess what… San Clemente Island! haha. πŸ˜€ I wonder if there’s a ferry that goes out there? That might be fun to explore. πŸ˜€

I’m really excited, I’ve never been to Catalina. My mom went with my sister’s troop to White’s Landing (see map, it’s a little bit north of Avalon) because I guess the Angeles Girl Scout Council shares the shore there with the Balboa Yacht club. Boars invaded their camp ground and jumped in the trash cans, haha. xD

Also my mom told me that my grandparents used to take the ferry out to Catalina in the ’50s and dance in the Grand Ballroom they had out there. So I asked myself, what does this ballroom look like? I found some pictures at This site…:

The outside of the ballroom. Isn’t it magnificent?

Some dancers in the 40s
Some dancers during the forties. I love it. πŸ˜€

It looks so wonderful. Maybe once we come back from Catalina Mike and I will want to take a romantic weekend and go there. πŸ˜€ I guess after we get married or something. ^_^ Chad said that he’s seen wild buffalo and boars on the island, and my mom said she has too. Ooh! So exciting! πŸ˜€

I also found a picture of Two harbors:

Pretty. πŸ˜€
