Update from the new digs!

I can’t believe how much life has changed since I last updated. On the day I last updated, we submitted a bid on a home. We had been seriously looking at homes since May 2012 and submitting bids, but none of them were accepted. Finally, 14 or 15 bids later, this most recent bid was finally accepted! We are now homeowners!

Our home

We closed escrow on November 30, 2012 and started moving in the next day. Believe it or not, everything from our tiny one bedroom apartment fit into the two-car garage of the new house! After that we went right into the holiday season, a busy time for our business. Between that and buying furniture, painting walls, etc it has been a busy time for us.

My Photo

Last night I finished setting up my new sewing table and ironing/cutting table!

I’ve been itching to get back to sewing since the holidays wrapped up, and I finally got up the gumption to sort out the mess that is our office to make room for my sewing area. I’m going to put up some fabric for a design wall and I want to get a thread holder to put on the wall, too.

Can’t wait to get started!!

Worst blogger ever.

Sidney is totally going to disown me for not taking many pictures with poor Enid. I’ve been so incredibly busy, by the time I have any free time to myself, I just want to watch movies or play Zelda, haha.

So, what have we been up to? Well, this past March was my 23rd birthday, and Enid helped me celebrate:

Lately this little guy has been monopolizing my time:

I’m dog-sitting for Mike’s parents until they come back from their Mazatlan vacation. 🙂

Our Trip to Colorado

We took over 100 pics while we were in Colorado. I’ll try not to post that many 😛

I had some apprehension over this trip. Prior to this I had never really been in snow before at all. True California girl I guess, haha. I’d never been snowboarding, I’d never seen it snow, never driven in snow, you get the picture. I was envisioning a horrible blizzard that would bury the state of Colorado and we would never be heard from again, haha. But of course that didn’t happen. There was snow but not an excess of it, and I packed plenty of warm clothes for the duration of our trip.

our boots matched, and they worked really well in the snow.

Back from CO

Well, we did have a weather problem when our flight was departing from Orange County, that delayed us about an hour and a half, but otherwise the trip to Colorado went very smoothly. It was really fun and relaxing, I’m so glad I went! I really want to see more of the country, since I’ve lived in southern California all of my life and haven’t travelled too far out of it. I know that reality is I won’t be able to afford to live in California for most of my life, so I’m trying to visit other places to see what they’re like and if I could live there. So far I haven’t found a place I like as much. I do like the wide open spaces in Colorado, and the close proximity of forests and natural parks. And the people are very nice and there are a lot less of them than in California, hehe. 😉 I did miss seeing the ocean though. And it was so cold!! And driving over snow is scary. 🙂 Guess I’ll keep looking. Maybe I’ll take a trip to Oregon this summer?

Update on me!

Well I went to traffic school and I made it out alive! Since I got my ticket in Los Angeles County, I had to complete my traffic school in Los Angeles county. I went to a class in La Mirada (it’s right on the border between Los Angeles and Orange counties). Besides a minor mishap with lunch (I got lost on my way back to class :dead: ), it was fine. I’m glad this whole ordeal is behind me! 🙂

In other news, I’ve been busy Christmas shopping; but I think I finally got everyone covered. I ordered most of my gifts online, so hopefully I’ll be receiving them all next week. :anime:

Also, I’ve decided to move out of my parents’ house! I’m really excited to get out in the world and live on my own. I looked around on craigslist.com, but I didn’t find too many living situations that I liked. The average amount to rent a room in southern Orange county is about $650-$800/month. That’s just for a room in an apartment or house. A studio apartment here is usually around $1000-$1100/month; a 1 bedroom is usually about $1200-$1300/month and a 2 bedroom apartment is usually $1400-$1500/month. It’s very expensive! :cloud: Luckily, my sister offered me a room in her townhouse, so I don’t need to go live with a stranger. Hopefully I can move in next week.

I’m really excited to buy new furniture and decorations for the new place. What are your favorite stores or online shops to buy home furniture &tc? I need new sheets and a new comforter cover, book shelves and a desk. Any suggestions?? :star:

I love long weekends!

Today I’m utilizing my extra day off to do a thorough cleaning of my room. I like to go through my closet every 6 months or so to get rid of things I no longer have any attachment to. Today I got rid of some old coloring books, old birthday cards, posters, and a New Kids on the Block doll. 😀

Does anyone want some old Sailor Moon dolls? XD

Road Trip, Part Three!

(Originally, I was going to make a single post about my roadtrip, but it’s so long! I’ll split it up so it’s not so daunting. So this section is Part Three: Pictures.)

So I’m a bit of a dork. I forgot to post the pictures I took of us on that beach in Santa Barbara and also pictures on the way to Davis going over the Golden Gate bridge, but rather than adding it to the post afterwards, I decided to just make another post. So here’s pictures of us on that beach (behind the cut).
