Happy Belated Birthday, America!

So on Tuesday was the 4th of July, but that wasn’t the best part of my weekend. First of all, Mike’s brother Greg got married and Mike and I were in the wedding. I don’t have any pictures (yet) but I do have some pictures of what my hair looked like:

Here is a profile view… TONS of curls.

You can see my makeup here, too. I also had some poofy kind of hair going in the front. Jessica Alba’s 2006 VMA Red Carpet look was my inspiration.

CURLS.

So that was Saturday. It was really fun, but also really hot and exhausting. I’m just glad it’s over 🙂 The next day Mike and I spent time with his family, since they’re all from out of town. On Sunday night my neice, Amber had a baby! His name is Gregory Charles, he’s 5 lbs 1 oz and 16 inches long. He’s a tiny little thing, but the doctors think he’ll be OK. Then on Monday Mike had to work, but I went to ANIME EXPO with Vanessa, Maz and his girlfriend, Amber. Ahhh! Unfortunately, I’m not as into manga and anime and I used to be when I first started going, but I still really look forward to AX every year. This was my 6th year going (since 2001! I haven’t missed a year) and while we were there we got to meet some people from a (now defunt) forum that Vanessa and I used to frequent back in 2001-2002. We’ve all kept in touch and to finally meet them after all this time was amazing. Shout out to Jake, Ryan, Ricky (who likes to be called Cid :P), and Ian! Then that night Mike, Vanessa and I went and saw The Devil Wears Prada. It was good!
Then on Tuesday I cleaned my room and burned off some creative energy:

I recovered my bulletin board that I did in 6th grade. The tacs aren’t sticking in too well, but the anime/Disney pins at the bottom are doing just fine. I should have put less stars on the ribbons up top. There’s no room to stick anything in underneath the ribbon now x.x;; After Mike got off of work we went to his parents house and watched Last Holiday and fireworks. The movie was better. xD
Anyway, time for work, ttyl 😀

Fwds are Lame, but I Liked This One.

My friend Amber ({Maz}’s girlfriend, not my neice  ) sent me this email yesterday. Kind of lame, but it helped me anyway. I got lots of calls and emails yesterday, thanks everyone. 🙂

John is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in a good mood
and always has something positive to say. When someone would ask him
how he was doing, he would reply, “If I were any better, I would be
twins!”

He was a natural motivator.

If an employee was having a bad day, John was there telling the
employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.

Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up and
asked him, “I don’t get it! You can’t be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?”

He replied, “Each morning I wake up and say to myself, you have two
choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or … you can
choose to be in a bad mood. I choose to be in a good mood.”

Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or…I
can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it.

Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept
their complaining or… I can point out the positive side of life. I
choose the positive side of life.

“Yeah, right, it’s not that easy,” I protested.

“Yes, it is,” he said. “Life is all about choices. When you cut away
all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to
situations. You choose how people affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It’s your choice how you live your life.”

I reflected on what he said. Soon hereafter, I left the Tower Industry
to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him
when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it.

Several years later, I heard that he was involved in a serious
accident, falling some 60 feet from a communications tower.

After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, he was released
from the hospital with rods placed in his back. I saw him about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied, “If I were any better, I’d be twins…Wanna see my scars?”

I declined to see his wounds, but I did ask him what had gone through
his mind as the accident took place.

“The first thing that went through my mind was the well-being of my
soon-to-be born daughter,” he replied. “Then, as I lay on the ground,
I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or…I
could choose to die. I chose to live.”

“Weren’t you scared? Did you lose consciousness?” I asked.

He continued, “..the paramedics were great.

They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me
into the ER and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and
nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read ‘he’s a dead man’.
I knew I needed to take action.”

“What did you do?” I asked.

“Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me,” said
John. “She asked if I was allergic to anything. ‘Yes, I replied.’ The
doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took
a deep breath and yelled, ‘Gravity’.”

Over their laughter, I told them, “I am choosing to live. Operate on
me as if I am alive, not dead.”

He lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his
amazing attitude… I learned from him that every day we have the
choice to live fully.

Attitude, after all, is everything .

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about
itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34.

After all today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.

I’m choosing not to be a victim. 🙂

There is no end to our silliness.

King Kong.

The week before Christmas Mike and I met {Maz}’s girlfriend, Amber, for the first time when we went on a double date to Island’s and the movies to see King Kong. She’s very sweet and pretty, I love her already.

Mostly I love the change I’ve seen in Maz since they’ve been together. Ever since I’ve known Maz, about 3 1/2 years now, he hasn’t really had a serious girlfriend. He’ll go on dates every once in a while, but those never panned out. Now that he’s dating Amber, he seems so much happier. I’ve really never seen him so happy and I’m really glad for him. It’s so nice to see that such an awesome guy like Maz, whom Mike and I care about and love so much, is so deliriously happy.

Jorge joined us for the movie once he got off work. The movie itself was too scary for me, haha. I had my head hidden in Mike’s chest much of the time, what with all the dinosaurs and scary insects and cannibals and such. It certainly did not end too soon.

It was a really fun night 🙂

Vanessa’s Present.

One day when I was visiting Vanessa up at LMU she was telling me how her room is really plain. So I thought for Christmas I would try to get her something to jazz up her room. But was still thrifty as I am a poor student hehe. Finally I came up with a solution: a memoboard! It’s like a fancy bulletin board with ribbons and buttons and shit on it. So I bought some adorable Dora the Explorer fabric (she has a Dora pillowcase) and go to town! This is what I came up with:

It has red ribbons with purple star buttons at the intersections.

Hope she likes it. 😳 She’s not quite as obsessed with cute things and pink as I am, but I tried to make it as tame as possible hehe.

She got me this really cute cami and sweater from American Eagle:

And Maz got me Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life. My boss gave me a $50 American Express gift card. :nosey: I was really surprised. Right now I’m going to Mike’s to open presents with his family. I’m so excited!! :cheerful:

Party at Vanessa’s!

I went to {Vanessa}’s a couple weekends ago and we had a BLAST. It’s so fun having a girls’ night out with no boyfriends around. 😀 (Don’t worry baby, I still love you. :loveeye: )

I drove up after going to the Discovery Science Center with my friend Kim for extra credit in our Geology class. I got there kind of early though, so I decided to drive around nearby Beverly Hills for some sightseeing. I soon realized that all parking is metered and I had no quarters. 🙁 You can see some lovely pics I took from the car behind the cut, haha.

There’s a bad view of city hall. It looks like a church or something.

Looks like a park, right? No, it’s just their sidewalk.

OMG I WONDER IF PARIS WAS THERE.

The Mormitron is about to take off! Just kidding. That was invented one time when I went up to Vanessa’s and Mike F., Vanessa and I were driving to Shoppingtown when we passed the LDS Temple. We remarked it looked kind of like a space ship about to take off, and hence Mormitron was born.

The Mormitron Temple for the LDS peeps! With Mercedes driving in front, ohh irony.

I finally managed to mosey over to Vanessa’s after an hour or so and we ran over to Rubio’s where I managed to offend some black people after I mentioned that I don’t care about the black people suffering in Africa to make my diamonds. Don’t worry though, Kanye West does. (By the way, I was completely kidding and I am seriously offended by the atrocities being commited in Sierra Leone). Then we dashed back to the dorm and decided to get our drink on while waiting for her friend Liam to call us so we could go to a party. We watched Annie Hall in between shots of vodka and sips of Smirnoff Ice. We also took some pictures!

My cheeks have the lovely glow of one who might be intoxicated.

If alcohol doesn’t make you happy, something is wrong. Luckily, Vanessa is normal~!

Could my hair be any more sexy and flowy?

Uh oh, Vanessa is entering her angry drunk phase! Run!

“Please drink me, I am just waiting to be consumed!”

LET’S TAKE A PICTURE OF DOING SHOTS TOGETHER! Oops, sit up Erin, Jesus you’re not that drunk yet.”

Duck lips makes an appearance!

“Fucksing HELL, hhhow d’you fucking WORK thiss FSUCKING ‘mote?!”

Alcohol = world peace.

Boobs need hugs, too!

YAY! Liam called Erin! Let’s get more alcohol and go PARTY!

Yes, Liam finally called and we went and got some more alcohol. Then we went to some guy’s house, a friend of Liam’s, and hung out for a while. I don’t remember much because at this point I was kind of smashed, but I do remember:
1. We met some fool named Cosmo and I was like, “COSMO? THASS NOT A FUCKSING NAMWE!”
2. Tade came and brought some girl he met at another party who was wearing a very short skirt and possibly no underwear.
3. The car Tade borrowed kept alarming at us and we had to get rid of our alcohol just in case the police came (which they never did). Vanessa dumped hers in the bushes… I chugged mine.
4. During the car ride back, I had to pee very bad.
5. I did not make it to the bathroom but made it out of the car. Whoops!
6. I took a shower and went to sleep while Vanessa… did something. I don’t remember. I was very embarrassed about peeing on myself and Vanessa comforted me, sweet thing!

The next morning I woke up early, as usual and I drove home to spend the rest of the day in bed. I already knew what I was going to do once I got there! I was going to first put my clothes in the washing machine, then make a cup of tea, take a shower, and finally fall asleep while watching The Little Mermaid. And that’s exactly what I did.

My lovely Saddleback Mountain once I got home!

Although it was kind of an embarrassing experience, it was overall hella fun and at least I have a most embarrassing moment to share! Yay for embarrassing drunkeness stories!

Happy Halloween!

:loveeye: Like the new theme? I decided I wanted to create a halloween-y layout but I couldn’t find any cute images I could easily turn into a layout on the web. So I drew one and colored it. 😀 Sorry it’s so gigantic too… 😮 I know it’s not the greatest graphic (lol) but I wanted to get it up before October ended. So happy halloween! I hope you like it. 😳 If not, only 2 weeks until you don’t have to look at it anymore. Or you can Change the theme once I get that page up under the domain section. I think my favorite part about this layout are the links. SEE isn’t it rad?? I used this article at ALA to make them. Thanks ^^

So yesterday I went to Vanessa’s! Yay! I missed her so much, I hadn’t seen her since about August probably 🙁 The drive up there was so bogus! It took forever to get out of Orange County, and it was smooth sailing as soon as I hit Long Beach. Usually it is the other way around. :tensed: I finally got there about an hour and 45 mins later.

I brought up some alcohol but since Vanessa was on RA duty, we couldn’t drink too much. There was a situation with a girl so I was able to see Vanessa’s RA sk177z in action! There was some drama, but overall I had a lot of fun. My favorite part was talking to her and seeing what’s up in her life lately. We talk online usually at least once a week but it’s not the same as talking in person. And it was really nice to be around some estrogen for a little while since I mostly hang out with boys (i.e. Mike and Maz, hehe). But I love my boys so I don’t mind it one bit. I can’t wait until the next time we are able to hang out. Next time I’ll bring a DVD player, ne-chan! 😀
