Stash Report January 22, 2017

It’s been raining here lately, here’s my dog Jetty cuddling up in his bed staying nice and cozy!

New Year, new stash numbers! I’m so happy. I ended 2016 using more fabric than I bought, but only by about 2 yards, so I’m hoping to do better this year. I have a finish under my belt already for this year which I’ll be posting about Friday, it was a fairly large quilt and all from my stash, yes!

I also started a new quilt. I am following the Butterfly Blossoms tutorial by MSQC. I used some Good Fortune by Kate Spain for Moda Charm Packs that I had bought a few years back for the quilt. Luckily I was able to find some yardage online for the border fabric. I thought I would be able to use some other fabric I had bought last year, but it didn’t look right. Hopefully I will be able to use that fabric for the backing.

My goal this year is to really thin out my stash. The Butterfly Blossoms quilt is for a cousin’s baby due in April and I’m happy I was able to use mostly fabric from my stash to make the quilt. I have another cousin due in May and I’m hoping to exclusively use fabric from my stash. It’s so hard with all these new adorable fabric lines coming out all the time!!

Used this Week: 9.75 yards

Stash Report – April 18, 2016

I just finished the Hungry Caterpillar quilt I have been working on for a couple of months, so I’m happy to show some progress on my numbers! Unfortunately I also hit the remnants bin pretty hard this week, so not as much as I was hoping!

Used this Week: 7.875 yards

Used year to Date: 7.875 yards

Added this Week: 5.807 yards

Added Year to Date: 5.807 yards

Stash Report

I’ve infrequently done these stash reports in the past, but I get discouraged after so many weeks of inactivity. Not anymore! Thanks to finishing Henry’s quilt, I’ve used up some fabric. I’m going by the fabric requirements listed in the pattern, I don’t have a lot of faith in them but it’s all I got!

(Week 1 for me)
Used this Week: 9.8 yards
Used year to Date: 9.8 yards
Added this Week: 5 yards
Added Year to Date: 5 yards
Yards til Goal: 154 yards
Net for 2015: 4.8 yards used

I bought some really cute fabrics this week, hopefully next week I can count them as used since I’m currently working on a project with them. I bought 2 yards of the first two fabrics; I plan on making toddler sheets for Henry’s bed out of those. The last three were end of bolt clearance items I am using on a new quilt ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for stopping by! I’m linking up with Judy over at Patchwork Times. If you haven’t checked out her blog, be sure you do… It’s one of my favorites and I’ve learned so much reading it!

Easy Envelope Pillow with Hello, Bear Fabrics

I just made this cute envelope pillow using Hello, Bear fabrics by Bonnie Christine for Art Gallery Fabrics!

I used this tutorial from Sew4Home. It took me I think 30 mins, probably less, from start to finish to make it. The fabric on the front is Timberland Dew (HBR-5437) and the fabric used for the back is Buck Forest Night (HBR-5434).

I’ve also made two crib sheets and a diaper changing pad cover using this tutorial from Sew4Home. I love finding fabric that I actually like and personalizing baby’s nursery, instead of having to settle for whatever pre-made sheets and pillows I can find out there.

From left to right: Adventure Springs (HBR-4438), Follow Me Moonlight (HBR-5436) and Oh, Hello Fog (HBR-4430).

I’m so loving the way baby’s nursery is coming together!

Another finished quilt! This one is a little special. I threw a baby shower for Mom and baby back in January and had the ladies at the shower write or draw messages on fabric squares to be made into a quilt. I took those squares and arranged them into a checkerboard design with some sashing. This is the finished result, finally ready to be presented to baby and Mommy. Quilt measures 33.5″x37.5″ and used an assortment of fabrics, mostly Rocket Age by October Afternoon for Riley Blake. I saw this fabric at my local quilt shop and absolutely fell in love! It’s so adorable! I did FMQ loop de loops with white thread on top and blue thread on bottom. I’m so loving FMQ!

I also used some Batman fabric and some flannel train fabric, both picked up from Joann’s. Here’s the back of the quilt:

Stash Report

Well I won’t bother numbering these since I’m fairly sure I won’t do it every week. I actually bought these fabrics last year but I never counted them. I just unpacked them so I will add them to my stash today.

The fabrics on top are flannels, the ones on the bottom are regular cottons.

Used this Week: 0.00 yards
Used year to Date: 0.00 yards
Added this Week: 4.376 yards
Added Year to Date: 4.376 yards
Net Used for 2012: 0 yards

I’m sharing my progress over at Patchwork Times, check out everyone else’s progress!

Stash Report – Week of May 6, 2012

I was inspired by Judy over at Patchwork Times to sit down and measure out my stash of fabric. I didn’t really want to face how much fabric I might have shoved under the bed, lol. After all the measuring and adding, I estimate my stash to be around 97 yards!! :omg: And that’s not even including my scraps bin, which has a couple of charm packs and a layer cake in it…

I’m going to start as of today; I have no idea how much fabric I’ve used so far and I do not want to figure it out!! So here’s my stash report:

Used this Week: 0 yards
Used year to Date: 0 yards
Added this Week: 0 yards
Added Year to Date: 97 yards
Net Used for 2012: 0 yards

I really need to get rid of some fabric apparently!!

WIP: Positively Perfect

What, you think just because I finished one quilt, I should stop and catch my breath! You must be joking ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here is my Jelly Roll all ready to be cut into pieces for this Positively Perfect Quilt

And here they are all cut! I ended up not using the AccuQuilt (even though I have a 2.5″ square die). It was too hard to get the fabric in there perfectly. It was easier to use a rotary cutter… Hopefully I can use the AccuQuilt on my next project. I got it for Christmas and still haven’t had a chance to use it ๐Ÿ™

Happy Quilting!

New WIP: Positively Perfect

Now that I’m wrapping up my current quilting project, I’m already looking ahead to the next project! I have a whole list going:

  1. T-Shirt Quilt for my Husband
  2. This doily quilt (for me)
  3. Quilt for a friend’s wedding gift
  4. Quilt for Mike’s cousin’s wedding gift

My list goes in reverse importance order… just when I think I’m getting to the end of my list, new things crop up!

Mike’s cousin is getting married in April across the country in Baltimore, MD. Unfortunately we won’t be able to make it, but I still want to send her a present. I’d like to make this Positively Perfect quilt posted last month over at the Moda Bake Shop:

positively perfect

Positively Perfect Moda Bake Shop Quilt

It looks simple and quick enough, and I love the little plus signs. Mike’s cousin is a nurse so they reminded us of the Red Cross medical symbol. ๐Ÿ™‚ Jelly Rolls were on sale over at Green Fairy Quilts, so I ordered one to make the process even quicker and easier for myself. I ended up ordering Moda’s Cape Ann by Oliver and S:

I love the sweet prints and I think they will translate nicely for this quilt. I think I might make it a little bigger than the pattern calls for by adding another row & column, but I’ll have to see how it goes. Hopefully I can get this one done in time for the wedding!
