Few Random Finishes

Just a few random finishes, not really quilt related but they did help me get some fabric out of my stash.

First, I made a window seat cushion for my boyfriend’s daughter. I was able to get rid of a lot of leftover batting I have laying around as well as a few yards of fabric, so I’m very pleased about that. I also made her a matching pillow with Slytherin and black fabric:

Next, I made a pillowcase for my boyfriend, also Harry Potter themed but Hufflepuff this time:

I really love how it turned out and he loves it, too! I also made him a handkerchief for father’s day with some fabric I had in my stash. Also, I made my son a pillowcase using some hand-me-down fabric and a bit from my stash.

His bed is now fully Thomas the Tank Engine. He loves it!

I usually don’t do a lot of this kind of sewing so it was fun to finish a few little projects. I really enjoyed making the Hufflepuff pillowcase so I want to try and make more of those in the future.

I’m still plugging away at my to-do list:

  1. Quilt for baby boy 3: I’ve finished piecing the top of the “>Meet Cute Quilt. Now I need to choose a backing, quilt and bind!
  2. Quilt for C: I have decided on a pattern from a book.
  3. Quilt for baby girl 2: I’m making the Diagonal Strip Quilt from Cluck Cluck Sew
  4. Mike’s T-shirt quilt
  5. The Lattice quilt tutorial when I pre-ordered the ombre confetti jelly roll from V and Co.

Stash Report April 15, 2015

Can’t believe it’s been almost a month since my last stash report! Believe it or not, I’ve got TWO quilt finishes this week so we’ll be seeing some real movement in my numbers. I’ll be sharing those posts once the gifts make it to their recipients.

I didn’t buy too much fabric this week, just two mini-charm packs. One was more Hushabye Hollow prints (oops, I forgot I had already bought a charm pack of that) and I bought a mini charm pack of Midnight Garden by One Canoe Two for Moda Fabrics:

Looks really darling, doesn’t it?

Used this Week: 7.86 yards

Used year to Date: 13.36 yards

Added this Week: 0.5 yards

Added Year to Date: 13.5 yards

Closer to even!

Stash Report March 18, 2018

I bought quite a bit of fabric since my last report. What can I say, I was weak!

First up, I caught a flash sale on FatQuarterShop.com for this sweet charm pack. I’m always making baby quilts so I thought this would be great for one of those:

Then, I caved to temptation and bought a jelly roll of the V and Co ombre confetti fabric that’s been floating around, the pre-order came with this pattern…

So then I had to buy a couple of yards of black and white fabric so I have all I need for the pattern. Plus I found some cute yardage in the remnants bin at JoAnn’s…

I do have a quilt top finished this week but I am not going to count it until the entire quilt is done.

Used this Week: 0 yards

Used year to Date: 5.5 yards

Added this Week: 7.5 yards

Added Year to Date: 13 yards

Back in the red!!

Stash Report February 4, 2018

If I get one stash report done a month, I’ll call that a victory! I have a finish under my belt this week but I will be waiting to post it until I give it to the recipients.

I started a new quilt this weekend that I bought new fabric for, so that will be another dent in my numbers. I used the last of my white fabric on my last quilt, so I bought a fat quarter bundle from the FatQuarterShop.com:

I thought I’d go with some printed whites this time to give the quilt a bit more interest. So here’s the numbers:

Used this Week: 5.5 yards

Used year to Date: 5.5 yards

Added this Week: 2.5 yards

Added Year to Date: 5.5 yards

Net for 2018: 0 yards de-stashed

Well, at least I’m no longer in the red!!

Stash Report January 14, 2017

New year, new numbers! Except I’m already starting the year in the red, oops! I happened upon some seriously cute Michael Miller fabric on sale at Hobby Lobby the other day and bought a couple of yards of each.

Magic Folk Navy Metallic Yardage by Sarah Jane for Michael Miller – MD7190

Michael Miller – Melodies Collection – Folk Birds – DC6863

And then last week I checked out a quilt shop for the first time and bought four fat quarters I couldn’t resist as well as a quilt pattern:

Just Another Walk in the Woods Pink Forest Furries by Stacy Iest Hsu for Moda 20523-12

Handmade by Bonnie and Camille – June in Red (55140-11)

Creekside Midnight Soar 37534-16

Couldn’t find out any info on this fabric.

So here’s the breakdown:

Used this Week: 0 yards

Used year to Date: 0 yards

Added this Week: 3 yards

Added Year to Date: 3 yards

Net for 2018: -3 yards de-stashed

Stash Report January 22, 2017

It’s been raining here lately, here’s my dog Jetty cuddling up in his bed staying nice and cozy!

New Year, new stash numbers! I’m so happy. I ended 2016 using more fabric than I bought, but only by about 2 yards, so I’m hoping to do better this year. I have a finish under my belt already for this year which I’ll be posting about Friday, it was a fairly large quilt and all from my stash, yes!

I also started a new quilt. I am following the Butterfly Blossoms tutorial by MSQC. I used some Good Fortune by Kate Spain for Moda Charm Packs that I had bought a few years back for the quilt. Luckily I was able to find some yardage online for the border fabric. I thought I would be able to use some other fabric I had bought last year, but it didn’t look right. Hopefully I will be able to use that fabric for the backing.

My goal this year is to really thin out my stash. The Butterfly Blossoms quilt is for a cousin’s baby due in April and I’m happy I was able to use mostly fabric from my stash to make the quilt. I have another cousin due in May and I’m hoping to exclusively use fabric from my stash. It’s so hard with all these new adorable fabric lines coming out all the time!!

Used this Week: 9.75 yards

Used year to Date: 9.75 yards

Added this Week: 1.5 yards

Added Year to Date: 9.75 yards

Net for 2016: 8.25 yards

Stash Report – April 18, 2016

I just finished the Hungry Caterpillar quilt I have been working on for a couple of months, so I’m happy to show some progress on my numbers! Unfortunately I also hit the remnants bin pretty hard this week, so not as much as I was hoping!

Used this Week: 7.875 yards

Used year to Date: 7.875 yards

Added this Week: 5.807 yards

Added Year to Date: 5.807 yards

Stash Report

I’ve infrequently done these stash reports in the past, but I get discouraged after so many weeks of inactivity. Not anymore! Thanks to finishing Henry’s quilt, I’ve used up some fabric. I’m going by the fabric requirements listed in the pattern, I don’t have a lot of faith in them but it’s all I got!

(Week 1 for me)
Used this Week: 9.8 yards
Used year to Date: 9.8 yards
Added this Week: 5 yards
Added Year to Date: 5 yards
Yards til Goal: 154 yards
Net for 2015: 4.8 yards used

I bought some really cute fabrics this week, hopefully next week I can count them as used since I’m currently working on a project with them. I bought 2 yards of the first two fabrics; I plan on making toddler sheets for Henry’s bed out of those. The last three were end of bolt clearance items I am using on a new quilt 🙂

Thanks for stopping by! I’m linking up with Judy over at Patchwork Times. If you haven’t checked out her blog, be sure you do… It’s one of my favorites and I’ve learned so much reading it!

Easy Envelope Pillow with Hello, Bear Fabrics

I just made this cute envelope pillow using Hello, Bear fabrics by Bonnie Christine for Art Gallery Fabrics!

A photo posted by Erin (@erinigorg) on

I used this tutorial from Sew4Home. It took me I think 30 mins, probably less, from start to finish to make it. The fabric on the front is Timberland Dew (HBR-5437) and the fabric used for the back is Buck Forest Night (HBR-5434).

I’ve also made two crib sheets and a diaper changing pad cover using this tutorial from Sew4Home. I love finding fabric that I actually like and personalizing baby’s nursery, instead of having to settle for whatever pre-made sheets and pillows I can find out there.

From left to right: Adventure Springs (HBR-4438), Follow Me Moonlight (HBR-5436) and Oh, Hello Fog (HBR-4430).

I’m so loving the way baby’s nursery is coming together!

Another finished quilt! This one is a little special. I threw a baby shower for Mom and baby back in January and had the ladies at the shower write or draw messages on fabric squares to be made into a quilt. I took those squares and arranged them into a checkerboard design with some sashing. This is the finished result, finally ready to be presented to baby and Mommy. Quilt measures 33.5″x37.5″ and used an assortment of fabrics, mostly Rocket Age by October Afternoon for Riley Blake. I saw this fabric at my local quilt shop and absolutely fell in love! It’s so adorable! I did FMQ loop de loops with white thread on top and blue thread on bottom. I’m so loving FMQ!

I also used some Batman fabric and some flannel train fabric, both picked up from Joann’s. Here’s the back of the quilt:
