Scarlett’s Kitty Blanket!

One day over the summer, I was browsing Etsy.com and came across a listing for this vintage sleeping bag pattern:

Vintage Pattern.

Vintage Pattern.

(Unfortunately the seller has since closed up shop, so I can’t link you to it.)

I thought that it would make a really cute Christmas gift for my two-year-old niece, Scarlett, so I bought the pattern. Unfortunately, I didn’t look at the listing closely enough though because all of the measurements were in metric! :uhh: I set out buying fabric and cutting as best as I could, but I ended up ditching the pattern completely and just winging it. This is what I came up with!

Completed Kitty blanket!

I used Kona Candy Pink and the striped fabric is by Brother and Sister Design studio. The inside is lined with this soft pink fabric (anybody know what this fabric is called?? I love using it, but can never remember what it’s called!)

Detail of the head and lining.

I thought the head on the original pattern looked kinda scary and demonic, so I changed the eyes on mine to make it less scary. 😀

Closeup of the face.

The whiskers are ric rac left over from Liliana’s quilt. I applique’d the eyes, nose, lips and chin and added french knots for whisker details.

The quilting on this one was kind of a nightmare, there are puckers all over the place on the inside of the blanket. I decided to let them go though, as I was running low on time and I figured as long as they were on the INSIDE, not the OUTSIDE, I could live with them. It was also originally meant to be a sleeping bag, but I decided that adding a zipper is outside of my skill set at this time so I just left it as a blanket.

Scarlett and her parents loved it and in the end, that’s all that matters! I’ll just be glad that this one is over. x_x

Cute USB Hubs!

I was at Target the other day and bought a USB hub, but when I brought it home and plugged it in, the thing didn’t work! So I decided to poke around the interwebs and see what I could find. (For those of you who don’t know, a USB hub is a USB device that plugs in to one USB port and splits it into many. Think of it as a power strip for USB ports.)

Mouse USB hub

This mouse USB hub has four ports, one of each of its legs. They’re all USB 2.0 and it comes in a variety of colors. Check out the Mouse USB Hub at Brando.com.

Lust?

I’ve been growing increasingly attached to Thunderbird recently, not only because it’s the cutest little email program ever, but it also introduced me to RSS feeds, and I’ve become addicted. It’s such an easy way to keep track of your favorite sites!

Also, look at this adorable cell phone charm from ASOS.com. Am I the only one lusting after it (especially since I already own a necklace identical to it, except the wings are white and not pink, but obviously pink is WAY better)?
