I finally finished the coffee quilt I posted about about a month ago. I’m so happy with the way it turned out:
The quilting I did on this one was very much inspired by Rita at Red Pepper Quilts. I quilted double set quilting lines on the squares about 1/4″ from either side of the seam lines like she did on her Broken dishes quilt. Then I did a diamond pattern on the border.
The piecing I did for the back was inspired by Amanda Jean over at Crazy Mom Quilts. I love her pieced backs!
This was also my first time doing a bias binding. I used this bias binding tutorial from Amy over at Diary of a Quilter. It didn’t turn out quite right (not all of the stripes are going the same way) but I’m pretty pleased with it!
And of course, I labeled it! This time the label I used was big enough to include care instructions, so I did that, too. When I started this quilt I wasn’t sure what its final destination was going to be: sell, keep or give away? I decided to give it as a gift for Christmas this year. I have a large family so starting early and making gifts is essential! (And I obscured the recipent’s name just in case any of them see this blog!)
Next up: this American flag quilt (also intended to be a Christmas gift). Time to get cutting!
