For some reason, {Teresa} started referring to Harry Potter as HairPo, and I’ve picked it up, so that’s where that came from.
On Monday night while Greg and Kristin were supervising auditions for a play in UCLA, Mike and I went to the Fox Theatre in Westwood and saw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. My excitement for this was beyond reasoning and seeing it in Digital was even better. 😀
Now I’m supposed to point out all the flaws of the movie, but I seriously cannot do it. Sure, they adjusted some things (the source of the gillyweed is the one that immediately comes to mind, and the complete cutting out of Dobby comes to mind), but I seriously can’t think of anything truly wrong with it. There are only two things I did not like.
One is the role of Sirius Black in this movie. In the book he is very very important and in the Goblet of Fire we see Harry and Sirius’ relationship develop into almost a father/son bond, which is very important for The Order of the Phoenix (next book). I did not see any of that in the movie, in fact Sirius only makes one appearance and is mentioned only a couple of times. In the book, it was constantly.
The other thing I did not like was the relationship between Harry and Hermione. I’m not a HUGE Hr/R fan, but it’s obvious enough in the books that they are the couple, not H/Hr. In the movie they made it seem too much like Hermione has a thing for Harry, when really they only view each other as friends. The Rita Skeeter incident was done well, though.
Overall I was very pleased with the outcome of the movie for my favorite book. I’ve heard people say that the other films were better, and I do think the creators could have done a better job not making this one seem so fast-paced. But it was good and I’m happy that I finally saw it. :kawaii:
BTW, did Cho Chang’s heavy accent delight anyone else besides me? I wish she talked more, it was just SO adorable 😳
I saw it also. I really enjoyed the movie. I’ve never read the books, so I can’t pick out anything to complain about. I did think the H/H thing was a bit odd… especially since we all know it is R/H… anyway… very nice. 🙂
